An inmate Feodor Strogov escapes from jail to straighten things up with his wife who left him for another man. After long and painful wondering through wilderness, starved and injured Feodor stumbles upon a remote taiga village. While the locals care for Feodor he falls for Paulina, a young ranger.
His rival, a local cop, Mikhail, finds out that Feodor is a fugitive and is going to arrest him but the circumstances change everything. The village is threatened by a violent gang and the fugitive and a cop act together to successfully fight them back. Instead of arresting Feodor Mikhail who still loves Paulina decides to help him obtain a new identity. This is how Feodor begins his second life filled with love and warms of Paulina.
