Officers is the story of three Russian Army buddies - Fedotov, Aslanbekov and Homenko - who shared experiences of love and war during their service in Afghanistan. While recovering from war injuries in the same hospital, the three soldiers fell in love with the same young nurse. Their friendship survived their competition for the love of the same woman, but their lives went in separate directions after the war. Fifteen years passed before their fates crossed again under the most unexpected circumstances.
Continuing his military career in Chechnya Fedotov accidentally killed an innocent boy, been found guilty and sent to a special detention center for the former officers. Later he finds out the commander of that special center is his friend Aslanbekov. Military commanders believe that convicted officers who got there are not hard-core criminals and can be re-habilitated and given the second chance to return to the service. But not everyone supports such approach. Among its opponents is Aslanbekov's deputy-rival Yurchenkov who is just waiting for his chance to topple Aslanbekov and take his position. And soon an opportunity presents itself. A group of prisoners led by Fedotov and convoyed by Aslanbekov's are went to conduct a search for their relatives who got hit by a horrendous tornado and got lost on their way to the detention center. Yurchenkov reports to Moscow superiors about the incident and claims it has been a mass prisoners' escape. At the rough river crossing Aslanbekov has been injured and left behind while Fedotov's group continues its search without convoy. What would unguarded prisoners do? Now the career and even the life of Aslanbekov depend on them. To investigate the emergency there arrives a group of top military officers from Moscow led by general Homenko, the third friend who reached a high military rank. Will Homenko be forced to have Aslanbekov arrested and Fedotov's group liquidated? Or will Fedotov's group overcome all obstacles and return to the detention center before the deadline?
